The Housing Authority of the City of Nanticoke is an equal opportunity provider of safe and affordable low income housing. The NHA operates a total of 419 housing units. Park Towers, Oplinger Towers and Nanticoke Towers provide housing for primarily senior and near senior tenants, while Apollo Circle and Nanticoke Terrace provide housing for primarily families.

The NHA is regulated through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. HUD also contracts with the NHA to provide 54 Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher units. Through this program, the NHA pays housing assistance payments to local landlords for low income tenants.

The NHA also operates an annual Capital Fund Program through HUD grants. The purpose of the Capital Funds grants is to provide funding to the NHA for improvement of tower sites and family housing units by way of non-routine maintenance.

The NHA also manages the New Horizons Development Corporation which rents six units for low income housing.

To qualify for housing, potential tenants complete an Application for Admission. This application is used for both the housing programs and Section 8. Once the screening process is complete, the applicants are placed on a waiting list which is ranked according to preferences. The Tower sites are made up of efficiency, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. The Family units are made up of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. Both the Tower and Family sites include handicap accessible units.
